Ever hear of fig trees...

Ever hear of fig trees in Ohio? Neither had we, but we learned on moving into the new manse that we had inherited a live fig tree in the corner of the garden. We wondered how we could keep it living. The former owner told me what we needed to do. Each fall we would loosen the soil around the tree and firmly push the tree over to the ground, then cover it with leaves and branches, making a mound somewhat like a grave. Each spring, we would remove the covering and raise the tree into the upright position.
It worked, it really did, and it was fun for the family. Each fall we had a "burial" and along the way, we talked about "Jesus and the Fig Tree."
