Like every newly-appointed pastor...

Like every newly-appointed pastor, I was looking forward to my new assignment. Shortly before my family and I made our move, I happened to run into an old friend. "Mike," he said, and looked me straight in the eye, "there's only one thing wrong with where you're going: the folks are dead!" I looked back at him and said, "You may be right, but we have a resurrection faith. As long as we have that kind of faith, there's hope!" The condition of the human heart is never hopeless, because folks are raised from spiritual death in and with the risen Christ. The Easter folks are all around us. We only have to look for them. In the Words of Robin E. Van Cleef:
... ever so often
along comes someone
whose very life
is a resurrection song,
a hallelujah.
I guess that's all we have.
I guess that's all we need ...
The Easter folks were waiting for me when I arrived at my new assignment. My friend hadn't looked hard enough!
