Every time I read or hear this story about Na'aman, I recall what my professor of homiletics told us never to do in titling sermons. He used this text as an example: "Seven Ducks In A Puddle." This event is certainly a good reminder of baptism for many, and it should be a memorial to our own personal purification from sin and self. While most will only be baptized in water, once in a lifetime, by another human, all believers are constantly being washed inwardly by God's spirit, according to Paul: "By means of one Holy Spirit all of us were washed into the one and only body of Christ -- regardless of our human relationships -- and we are all drinking of the one Spirit of God" (1 Corinthians 12:13a paraphrase). -- Wachenschwanz
