God sent his own Son...

God sent his own Son into the world. What a drastic step. With what can we compare it? I remember reading stories of the early missionaries to Africa and Asia. They sailed in clipper ships, on ocean voyages of several months from their original homes. And, when their children became of an age to heed high school and college educations, they would send them "home," back to Europe or America. There would be years of separation. When the parents were re-united with their children they were children no longer, but adults. Some of the earlier missionaries never saw their children again. What would be worth such a separation, such sacrifice? That people might come to know of the light that has shined into the world, and find life.
