Grady was a superb athlete and student in his high school. Town folks believed that Grady would go on to college and do well. But Grady decided to go in the military shortly after graduation. He left behind his high school sweetheart, who felt betrayed. One day Grady got a letter from home. It was from his mother. It contained the news that his high school sweetheart was expecting a baby. Out of the mother's love for her son came in writing the words: "Grady, are you the father of her baby?" Grady knew the answer to that question was a resounding "no." How do you tell your mother "no" in such a way as to convince her and relieve her mind at the same time? We would say that Grady had a crisis of belief on his hands. He knew the answer. Making others believe it was the crisis. The scripture tells us that a man named Joseph also faced a crisis of belief. He was in love with a virgin named Mary. They planned to marry but a crisis came into their life. Fortunately for Joseph, he was not left alone in his crisis. God was with him. God sent an angel to him. The angel had a message for him. Joseph believed the angel and did as the angel commanded him to do. He took his espoused wife home with him. When the baby was born, Joseph and Mary called him Jesus. We call him Lord. We will have our own crisis of belief in our lifetimes. Will we remember that God is with us in our crisis? Will we know the angels he sends our way? Will we believe them? Will we obey them?
