I'm finally beginning to see...

"I'm finally beginning to see the light," is not an uncommon phrase. A businessman might utter these words with some relief after struggling with a production problem that had been difficult to master. A parent might say, "I think my daughter is beginning to see the light," with reference to a changed attitude or behavior that had created a good bit of tension in the family. A teenager might say he is beginning to see the light when a math formula begins to make sense. In each case, however, the feeling is that of elation or joy, and is reflected in the countenance of the person.
Another area of life where we might hear these words is in the religious sphere. In fact, there used to be a gospel chorus sung by many referring to this experience, "I've seen the light. I've seen the light. O thank God. Yes I've seen the light." What is that light? It's the light that dawns in a person's life when suddenly they behold the glory of God's love and truth as revealed in his Son, Jesus Christ. What had been veiled in darkness, now is apparent and the light shines out of darkness.
The Living Bible says, "For God, who said, 'Let there be light in the darkness,' has made us understand that it is the brightness of his glory that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ."
