It is difficult to remember...

It is difficult to remember that many people judge Christianity by what they see displayed in the lifestyle of Christians like us. We forget that we are role models for many people as they consider either becoming a Christian or continuing the Christian life in the face of many doubts. Being such a role model involves a heavy load of responsibility.
A number of years ago a very straightforward public announcment on television communicated a number of these truths quite graphically. The opening scene featured a young father and his small son walking hand-in-hand through a park. When the father kicked a tuft of grass, so did the son. When the father skipped a rock across the lake's surface, the young boy hurled a stone, too. Father and son were even dressed similarly as they enjoyed their "quality time" together.
Soon, the two sat down by a tree and leaned against the trunk to rest. The fahter took out a cigarette and lit up, leaving the open pack lying on the ground between him and his son. As the little boy's hand reached for the cigarette pack, the camera froze the action and the announcer said, "He wants to bejust like you in everything. Do you want that for him?"
