It is extremely disappointing to Christians when their friends and fellow members lose interest in their church. Onetime choir members, previous church council members, youth leaders, and generous givers suddenly substitute their interest in the church with golf, travel, work, special interest groups and other things. How could they? What did we do wrong? Did we burn them out? Are their new friends influencing them? Will we ever try to share the gospel again when the results appear to be so poor? Jesus teaches us that our responsibility is to scatter the seed. It seems the soils are a given that we have little or no control over. We don't choose with whom we are to share the gospel, but instead our directions are to spread the seed wherever we go and allow God to measure the degree of success by the kind of growth that is produced. -- Runk
