It's not the church that's always asking for our money; it's the world! And the secular society is doing it in some creative ways. A recent athletic fund-raising event asked for pledges, and they made it easy to give. You could choose your level of pledge commitment. Within that commitment, monthly payments could be made. One may also have chosen a flexible way to pay. You could plunk it all down in one full payment or arrange for automatic debiting. Naturally credit card pledges were also encouraged. They even arranged a matching gift program to be done with willing employers and employees. Educational, environmental, and recreational groups are but a few of the agencies asking for our money, and getting it! Shrewd means clever, keen, and smart ... crafty, quick, and cagy. It proves that often the ends justify the means. So why aren't churches using direct deposits?
