Kim advanced in her job with a financial company. She worked long hours to achieve the
top position. She received national recognition for her work within the company.
Eventually, she became vice president, having people work for her and, of course, she
received a nice salary.
She surprised everyone the day she tendered her resignation. She had had enough of the corporate world. She wanted to make a difference in other people's lives. She had reached the point when she was not as concerned with earning a high salary as she was when she was younger.
At church there was an open position for a director of ministries. As she interviewed for the position she was asked if she realized that the salary for that position was considerable less than she had been making as an executive. There were some on the interview committee who did not think she was really interested in working for the church, but she assured them she was interested. She wanted to help people.
Working at the church was a life-transforming experience for Kim. She saw the difference the church was making in the lives of the people within the church and in the surrounding community through various outreach ministries. Under her leadership the church thrived. Her enthusiasm was contagious as people volunteered to help with the various ministries. Kim had found her true vocation and experienced a sense of peace and happiness that she never had in the business world.
