In many parts of the country there used to be blue laws. These regulated society's Sunday behavior by the closure of shops and places of entertainment. The day of Sunday was regarded as a somber and quiet time. But as the admonition goes, "Look at this picture. What is missing?"
This biblical description of keeping the Sabbath is actually a joyous one. No work! Relaxation! A day for everyone to remember deliverance and salvation! A time, in fact, to remember who we are.
There is a special nursery rhyme which identifies the characteristics of children born on each day of the week. God's children are identified in the description of Sunday:
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and good and happy alway.
