Nothing is impossible with God...
Illustration
"Nothing is impossible with God." With these words a young woman is assured that God has found her to be the vessel through which the world will experience the Christ.
God is no respector of time or place. God is God and God probes into life, at any time, to do what God must do. God doesn't choose a queen or princess to bear the holy child, God chooses a young woman in a small out of the way town. God communicates with people, usually one person. Like an artist who paints the perfect picture, so God paints a new world full of possibilities and hope through a young woman. God breaks into life in a whisper, yet in an explosive way, a way that causes a young peasant woman to proclaim, "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant."
We should not be surprised that God would choose to be known in this wonderful way. Life is given to us, but we must make decisions that will affect how our life will be lived. Mary chose to be used by God. Henry Ward Beecher said that, "God asks no man whether he will accept life. That is not the choice. You must take it. The only choice is how."
Mary said, "yes," and it is critical that we say "yes," to God's divine intervention in our life. When we are affirmative to God's call in our lives, we become, as Mary realized she had become, God's servant. Our "yes," to God magnifies the Lord, and our lives become the joyful vessels of God's good work.
