Vera was a unique woman. During her marriage she birthed two natural sons. When her ex-husband died, everyone thought Vera's interaction with extended family might end. Yet Vera had two unique ministries: one to foster children over 34 years and the other to her ex-mother, now in a nursing home. A few years later she welcomed her son's wife, who had MS, into her home. You might say Vera was a loving, caring, and anonymous "background presence."
Every Friday, Vera visited Edwina at Manor Care Nursing Home. Oh, she was a "challenge." Edwina grumbled about the food, the care, her roommate. But Vera never gave up even when Edwina told her not to come back. Vera was loyal and didn't listen. She continued to Edwina's death returning the love of Jesus from her heart.
