One preacher tells of his earliest memory of a sermon. Until that Easter the young man had never really listened to or remembered many sermons. But this Sunday he'd seen the preacher before the service. On an impulse he asked what the preacher intended to say. The preacher took him over to the Bible, found the 20th chapter of John and described the enthusiasm which gripped the disciples on Easter morning. The sermon would address the sheer excitement that the resurrection evokes. The preacher asked the young man, "Will you remember what is preached today?" Enthusiastically the young man promised that he would remember.
All during the service the young man waited for the sermon. At last the preacher stood to speak. As soon as the young man heard the preacher's enthusiasm he knew what he wanted to be. He wanted to be a preacher so that he too could describe the excitement of the resurrection. He too wanted to evoke excitement through spoken words.
