Voices from all sectors of Christianity, including some "name theologians," have begun to confront us with our lost belief in the sovereignty of God. It is as though all have viewed a huge neon sign in the heavens quoting the beginning of Isaiah 43:25: "I, I am he ..."
Make no mistake, they know what they are talking about!
Indeed, what has happened to the majestic Calvinism, dogmatic Lutheranism, and infallible Roman Catholicism that have given such richness to the belief God is ultimately in control and all things begin and end with him?
It seems to me two things have occurred in recent decades. First, the truth that each branch presented and articulated on the matter has not been disproved; it has merely been allowed to succumb to a spiritual eclipse. Second, the affluence, "do your own thing" philosophy, and technological advancement have given humankind the big head.
The thorough-going Christian believes in the beginning God created humans; the person claiming brilliance with a religious veneer believes in the beginning humans created God.
