Object:
In Proverbs, from the King James Version, we have this well-known truth, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." The respected Matthew Henry Commentary on the Bible interprets this verse by saying, "When men defy God's judgments, and think themselves far from them, it is a sign they are at the door. Let us not fear the pride of others, but fear pride in ourselves."
Application: The pride of the high priest blinded him to the silent humility that was standing before him.
