Shortly after President Clinton came into office in 1993 a poll was taken. That poll found that ninety percent of all Americans thought that the health care system in the United States was in a state of crisis and needed to be changed. So the government came up with some ideas about exactly what changes should be made. But when those changes were announced, all of a sudden, instead of ninety percent of the people being in favor of changes in the health care system, only twenty percent were in favor of those changes. And what they found out was that people were interested in changing the health care system, as long as those changes did not affect them personally. In other words, people thought it was okay for others to be affected by change, as long as that change did not affect them. John the Baptist calls on all people to change. But so often we deceive ourselves into believing that repentance is just for other people. -- Bowen
