This story of the conversion...

This story of the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch is a story filled with mystery. An angel tells Philip to go south to the road leading to Gaza. Then the Spirit told Philip to join the chariot. And finally, "the Spirit of the Lord caught up Philip."
With all this spiritual activity, it is the human touch of Philip that makes the real difference. One cannot be a Christian by oneself.
The giant redwood trees of California are amazing. Some of the trees are 3,000 feet high and over 2,500 years old.
One might think such giants would have huge root systems reaching down into the earth hundreds of feet. But that is not the case. Redwoods actually have a very shallow root system, but they intertwine. The giant trees are locked to each other. The wind, rain, snow, and lightning cannot topple the trees because of the strength they find in each other.
The single redwood could not survive. The Christian wrapped up in her or himself could not survive. Our support comes from the intertwining link of Christian fellowship and love.
