When Jesus enters the life...
Illustration
When Jesus enters the life of blind Bartimaeus, he is sitting on the side of the road. Hearing that Jesus is nearby, he begins to shout to Jesus to have mercy on him. Jesus responds and asks Bartimaeus, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man answers, "Let me see again." Jesus grants his request and Bartimaeus sees again.
Jesus is the light of the world. In his presence, anyone can see. There is no blindness that can extinguish his light. Yet, without the light of Jesus, there is no seeing. There is no human light or sight strong enough to see without Christ. For we all begin life by sitting on the side of the road until Jesus lightens our lives so we can, like Bartimaeus, get up and follow him.
