Why are the words I...

Why are the words "I was wrong" the three hardest words for us to say?
I was sitting in the airport terminal in Atlanta. Across the corridor was a mother who was obviously sternly lecturing her young son. Although I could not hear what they were saying I did hear enough. The little boy shrugged his shoulders and with a sheepish look said, "But what did I do?" His mother answered, "I don't know, but I'm sure you shouldn't have done it."
At first I thought of how unfair that was, but one look at the lad and I decided that the mother was probably right. Actually if she had given the lecture to any of us if we were honest we would admit that she was right.
Hardly an hour passes without our hearts being tainted by greed on anger or lust on despair or envy or judgment. I know how the little boy felt for I, too, have had that sheepish look on my face and, shrugging my shoulders, tried to justify myself to God.
