You can spot them by the way they talk. They know something about everybody. They may have talked with a person in passing and then pass that along as the basis of a perfect friendship. They like people to hear them talk about who they are acquainted with. They prop themselves up on the pedestals of others. We call them "name-droppers. They are not invited to intimate gatherings, because they do not have a substantial relationship with the very people whose names they flaunt.
The unclean spirit was a name-dropper. He knew exactly who Jesus was, yet he did not have a relationship with him. Consequently, he was told to leave. It is not sufficient to know the truth; one must have a living relationship with the Truth.
Are you a name-dropper? Do you know about Jesus? Or do you know him as your personal friend?
