A young man appreciated the love of his grandmother as long as he could remember. On every special day he would visit her, send a greeting card, or arrive with a box of candy. These visits continued late into her life. He was there even as death drew near to her. Other members of the family began to talk about this caring person. They suspected his visits had a secret or hidden motive. Finally the young man was accused of "only wanting to get Grandma's money" when she died. Acts of love and kindness were not part of their lives. Many in this extended family suffered from "heart trouble." Judas' heart was also in the wrong place. He couldn't understand Mary's motive nor Christ's reply. He was driven by his own hidden agenda. The gracious, loving intentions of some are often misread and misunderstood by those whose hearts are not in the same place. Our Lord is no longer physically with us, yet his word assures us that acts of love and kindness also touch him with love. -- Reisen
