Call To Worship
Leader: Despite our good intentions and despite our positive attitudes, you and I still endure times of darkness and uncertainty.
People: We come looking for light.
Leader: In spite of our strength and in spite of our faith, we still puzzle over predicaments.
People: We come longing for sight.
All: Come, Christ, we wait for your love.
Collect
We come to Advent carrying the expectation of adventure. Where our faith needs an overhaul, we come ready to receive. Where our practice of loving needs bolstering, we come willing to change. In the name of the coming Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We long for light, O God of love, because we know you will enter the murky areas of our lives. Our fretting comes from forgetting your promise to bring what is fair and honorable. We await your reminder through Christ. Amen.

Call To Worship
Come, let us worship on this first Sunday in Advent. Especially when we let the worries of this life overload our hearts, let us be alert for signs of God's presence. Let us not be faint from fear but stand tall in spirit, expecting to receive the gift of God's love.
Collect
O Bringer of all that is good, the thought of your coming unsettles our confused hearts until we remember your coming is in human form so we might recognize your love for us. In the coming of Christ, we receive you with transformable hearts. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
How easy it is, O God, for us to miss what is most important. We need healing but allow sickness to dominate our thoughts. We need a word of love but isolate ourselves from others. We need to know you are for us, but we hide behind a guilty conscience. Help us to turn ourselves around so we are facing you. In the name of the coming Christ. Amen.
