Call To Worship
On Good Friday, God through Christ carries the weight of our sin. On this day, the one who came to be servant of all takes the punishment for our turning away from God. Today, Christ makes right the mess we make when we do not care. Enter this time of worship with both sorrow and gratitude.
Collect
We come here contrite of spirit, O God, because Good Friday happened on our account. The solemnity of this day causes us to stop and reflect on our willful shortcomings. Help us to do better at living your way. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Leader: Forgive us, God, for we all, like sheep, have gone astray. We have all turned to our own way. What first held promise turned next to decay.
People: We all, like sheep, have gone astray.
Leader: We have laid aside what we know is right because right gets in our selfish way.
People: We all have turned to our own way.
Leader: If only we could command compassionate love to stay.
All: Forgive us, God. We all, like sheep, have gone astray. We have all turned to our own way. Amen.
27C Hymns
"God Moves In A Mysterious Way" Tune: DUNDEE

People: On this day, turn from anger to reconciliation.
Leader: Let us change from living lies to being truth.
People: Let us change from death to life.
All: Let us move with the confidence of knowing God's forgiveness.
Collect
Today, O God, you show us your forgiveness. In turn, we need to forgive ourselves. We also would forgive those who bring wrong so all might start over. For the sake of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lead us forward from this day of darkness into light, O merciful God. Lead this world to move beyond the despair of oppression. Good Friday
Gospel: John 18:1--19:42
Theme: So Far Away
Call To Worship
Leader: People are called outcasts because someone has made them so.
People: Children of this world are taken advantage of and are overworked because someone has allowed it to happen.
Leader: People are wrongfully put to death because someone believes like for like is an erasure.
People: People frightened by different ways of being and doing fail to respect the variety of God's creation.
All: On this Good Friday, evil seems not so far away. Forgive us, God, whenever we attempt to destroy you.
Collect
We pray in silence this Good Friday, O God, that your world might become a better place. We pray for all who suffer as a result of greed, dissension, injustice, and misunderstanding. We pray for relief of misery. We pray that all will see we belong to one world family. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
In our day to day lives, O God, we may not take time for prayer; but today, we want only to be close to you. Our complaints are small. We want to ask nothing of you this day. We have few words, none that can help. Please hear and accept our silence, God, our grief. Amen.

"O God, My God" Tune: O GOD, MY GOD
