Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
Theme: History Class
Call To Worship
Do not fear, people of God. Strange dreams trouble those who love and wealth is given to the things of this world. Though kingdoms fall and statues crumble, God is God.
Collect
Lord God, we praise your name and dedicate to you the memory of our loved ones who are sustained and preserved through your love and promises. As we reflect on those who have witnessed to your name and gone on before us, we also reaffirm our dedication not to their memory, although it is important in our lives, but to you, Lord of history, God of salvation. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord Jesus, we recognize you in our lives, and in all of history. We see that you have been active in our past, personally and as your people, and thank you that you have made your glory evident to all people in all ages. Ancient of Days, you tell us that kingdoms will rise and fall, and that if we are to give thanks for anything, it is that you sustain us through bad times and good. Let kingdoms fall, even our own. You are God and Lord, and though heaven and earth shall pass away, your Word is eternal. You are the living Word. We are your disciples, your servants, your family. We praise you. We pray these things in your name. Amen.
Hymns
O Where Are Kings And Empires Now?
Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart
Come, Ye Thankful People, Come
