Before television, when children had to be creative in their play, some children decided to play "automobile." There were at least twelve who had become tired of the usual ball games, etc.
So they decided who would be the headlights, who would be the motor, who would be the steering wheel, who would be the tires, and who would be the spark plugs. Then they started down the street. The child who was to be the horn made a tooting sound.
A man asked them what they were doing. They told him, "We are playing automobile." They each told what part they represented.
Then the man asked the two smaller children who stayed behind, "What part are you?"
They answered, "We are the smoke and the smell!"
