Object Lessons and other Worship Stories for Children
World Communion Sunday is a special day for Christians to observe the sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
Objects: baptismal font, plate for bread (no bread) and a tiny glass cup for grape juice or wine (no juice or wine).
Some Sundays here at church I take water out of this container. Do you know what I do with the water? Right. You put it on a person's head. Yes. That's called two big words you probably have never said before. When I put water on a person's head, it's called the sacrament of baptism. Say those words with me a couple of times. Sacrament of baptism.
Today we're not going to have the sacrament of baptism, but we are going to have another sacrament.
When we have bread and [___] on the table up here, we have another sacrament called the Lord's Supper.
I want to show you the plate we use to pass the bread around to the people in the church. I also want you to see one of the little cups in which we put the [___].
Today Christians all over the world are going to church and eating bread and drinking [___]
together. It's a special way we remember that Jesus loves us.
