Easter 7
Prayer
Prayers in Dialogue
For use with Common and Lutheran Lectionaries
Pastor:
Lord God, at the call of your Spirit we have been together at worship this day, seeking the knowledge and strength to go and live the days ahead.
Assistant: We cannot stay here, absorbed in prayer and praise;
People:
Yet help us to pray at all times, and to make our lives a praise of you, O God.
Assistant: By your Word and Sacrament, nourish us to live as your people.
People:
Help us to hear your guidance always, and to receive your presence wherever we may be.
Pastor:
Lord God, life springs its surprises on us, testing us painfully, trying us sharply.
Assistant: Without your help we cannot withstand the testing;
People:
But we trust you to be with us, and to help us through to confident faith.
Assistant: In every trial we look to you for help,
People:
And rely on you to show us the way through.
Pastor:
Lord God, our confidence is in your having chosen us, redeemed us, given us your Son.
People:
We believe that you have given us to Jesus, that his church will continue in this, our time.
Assistant: Now keep us your own,
People:
That we may be one with you, as you and your Son are one.
(Other petitions may be included here.)
Pastor:
You promise to send your Spirit to us, O God.
People:
May we receive the Spirit with ready hearts, and live in the truth to which he ever leads us.
All: We pray in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen (Our Father ...)
