Object:
Words Of Assurance
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Pastoral Prayer
Ever-living God, we hail you in the risen Christ who brings to our dark world the glory of an eternal morning. Your deathless life shines above the crosses of sin, bursts through the tombs of death, and is reflected by the beauty of springtime. We would touch you, O Unseen Presence, with the hands of doubt, and behold you with the eyes of faith. Stir our souls with joy as you move among us. Let us, like Mary, hear you calling us by name in the midst of waiting sorrow and longing loneliness. Where our heartstrings have ceased to sing, let the resurrection songs of victory awaken new melodies of hope. Be the living Master who goes before us, healing the wounds of sin and lifting up the truth of life that would claim our love.
Eternal God, we thank you for the cloud of witnesses from days gone by who surround our worship here; for every memory of strong faith, humane service, and Christ-like character. Deepen our gratitude for sacrifices made by those who have gone the King's Highway before us, persons who found in your church refreshment and comfort, peace and restoration, challenge to service and strength to render it. Give us grace to see the need of our children, and our children's children, and let not the heritage of the gospel fail them because of our slackness or infidelity.
Grant unto your Church, O God, a new sense of your power and a holy passion to glorify you among all persons, and to let your kingdom come and your will be done; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Benediction
For this amazing day, may God's name be praised! And may the creative love of God, the power of Jesus' resurrection, and the sustaining grace of the Holy Spirit be with you and with the ones you love, wherever they may be, this day and always. Amen.
