A GOSPEL TREASURY
Poems Based on Lectionary Gospels
Glorioski, come and see!
Mom and dad bought me a horse
and, because you’re close to me,
you can ride him, too, of course.
What a most astounding day!
Dad gave me a new Corvette.
Others watch in green dismay,
Greatest status symbol yet.
Won’t you come and visit us?
See our brand new residence.
We won’t make a lot of fuss.
I’ve arrived. Here’s evidence.
Share the wonder that is mine.
We now have a ten-pound boy.
Mom and son are doing fine.
What a time of pride and joy.
Andrew, in excitement ran
to his brother, Peter, where
he gave word of God with man.
That was news he had to share.
'Brother, we have seen the light.
We have found our God’s Messiah.
Now the future all looks bright.
Share with us an Alleluia.'
Why do we so soon declare
passing glories that befall?
Yet we rarely ever share
Christ, the greatest gift of all.
