Fifth Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Jesus, The Way
Call To Worship
Leader: Jesus said: "I go to prepare a place for you... where I am, there you may be also."
People: Like the disciples of old, we cry out: "Show us the way, Lord."
Leader: Jesus said: "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life."
People: Praise be to God who has revealed himself in his Son, Jesus Christ.
Invocation
O God, who has taught us to keep all your heavenly commandments by loving you and our neighbors, grant us the spirit of peace and grace, that we may be both devoted to you with our whole heart and united to each other with a pure will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
O Lord, our God, you have told us not to let our hearts be troubled, but to believe in you and in your Son, Jesus Christ. Still our hearts cry out for reassurance, and our steps falter as we strive to follow Jesus. Forgive our weakness, we pray, and by the strength of your Holy Spirit help us to be unwavering in our faith that we may be worthy witnesses, able to carry on the works of Jesus. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, you blessed the common things of life, such as bread and wine, and made them holy sacraments, revealing yourself through them. We ask that you will take these common coins and bills, making them sacraments, holy and set apart, for the revelation of your love. Amen.
Hymns
"Blessed Assurance"
"Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life"
"Dear Lord, Lead Me Day By Day"
