Fifth Sunday In Lent
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Jesus, The Resurrection And The Life
Call To Worship
Jesus said: "I am the Resurrection and the Life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."
Come, let us worship the Lord of Life, and lift up our hearts and voices in praise and thanksgiving to the Almighty.
Invocation
Eternal God, we pray to you with a sense of wonder. You are far beyond our ability to comprehend or define, yet you come to us as Parent and Friend. We pray now that you will direct our minds to your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to capture his vision of goodness, truth, and love. Enable us to take that Spirit of his into our daily round of affairs. Through him may we live life in a new dimension, and through lives transformed by him, may this broken world find its way to truth and peace. Amen.
Confession
Lord, because we have failed to turn to you in our deepest time of need, we have suffered needlessly. We come now with penitent hearts asking to be forgiven for our foolishness. We bring to you our discouraged hearts, asking hope. We bring to you our wavering commitment, asking renewal. We bring to you our puzzled wills, asking direction. We bring to your our loneliness, asking love. Through Jesus Christ our Savior, we pray. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, you see and know not only the gifts we bring, but also the love with which they are given. Accept our offerings and our devotion to your service, and increase in us the works of faith and love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"Victory In Jesus"
"When I Survey The Wondrous Cross"
"Jesu, Jesu"
