Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Gospel Lesson: Luke 2:41-52
Theme: Talk To Me, Not Through Me
Call To Worship (based on Isaiah 43:19)
God is about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Collect
Lord, you have called us a name -- your children. We seek to live up to your trust in us, not just as individuals, but as your people called together in our sins to be perfected by you. We give thanks, we rejoice in your goodness. Bless us in our worship today. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Frustrated and frightened as you made her, Lord Jesus, yet your mother set us an example. She did not lash out and call you a name. She named her own feelings and how your actions had affected her. May we do likewise, naming our feelings but not scorning and naming others by our perceptions.
Hymns
Good Christian Friends, Rejoice
Away In A Manger (regular tune)
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
