Object:
Theme: Temptation
Call To Worship
Leader: It is written: "One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God."
People: We come seeking the Bread of Life.
Leader: It is written: "Do not put the Lord your God to the test."
People: We come to strengthen our faith and renew our spirits.
Leader: It is written: "Worship the Lord your God and serve only him."
People: We would see Jesus and him only would we serve.
Invocation
O Lord, our God, in this season of Lent as we turn our eyes toward the cross, we ask that we may see clearly the sacrifice you have made for us, and then may see just as clearly the sacrifice we must make for others; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Gracious God, we seek your pardon and forgiveness for all our faltering steps. We have hesitated in seeking your glory. We have tarried where we are, rather than accept the challenge of discipleship. We have left compassionate words unsaid, held back on forgiving words, and loosened our lips with trivial and hurting words. Renew us as we seek to listen again to the words of Jesus. Forgive us our timid discipleship. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Come to our aid, Lord, as we try to sort out our priorities in life. Help us always to put first things first, and help us to place our trust in those things that are eternal. Amen.
Hymns
"We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder"
"What A Friend We Have In Jesus"
"Make Me A Captive, Lord"
