Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Theme: The Antidote
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 138:6-8)
Lord we know that though you are high above all creation, you regard the lowly. Though we walk through the midst of trouble, you preserve us. You stretch out your hand and deliver us. Lord, fulfill your purpose for us. Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands, but answer our prayers, hear our joys and concerns, unspoken and spoken. Draw us together as your people. Amen.
Collect
Lord, you are our rock of refuge. The storms of life swirl around us. We need an anchor in that storm. You have heard our joys and concerns, spoken and unspoken. We pray you have also heard the faithfulness in our petition, for in asking you for aid we proclaim your power and admit our need. Bless us as your people. Heal us. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
True love. What is true love? True love is the love of a scarred back torn by splinters, the love of a forehead pierced by thorns, the love of hands and feet cut by nails, the love of a body scored by wounds. True love creates summer breezes and howling winter winds, true love calls the corn from the soil, and is a love whose very no means yes to life for many. We have seen this love in action in our own lives. Let us live it.
