Fourth Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Life Among The Believers
Call To Worship
God reveals himself not to the person who is self-sufficient or self-righteous, but to the one whose mind is open, whose will is receptive, and whose soul is humble. In that spirit, let us come in worship before the Lord.
Invocation
We come, Almighty God, seeking your light and your truth. We need your light because we are surrounded by darkness. We need your truth because we are bombarded by falsehoods. Open our minds and open our hearts, that we may be taught by your Word and may be enlightened by your Spirit. Amen.
Confession
Lord, when we read how those early Christians devoted themselves to your teachings, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer, we realize how much we have neglected our spiritual life. Forgive us, we pray, and through the power of your Holy Spirit draw us nearer to you and to one another by cultivating spiritual disciplines in our lives. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Consecrate, Lord, not only the gifts we give, but the hands that have earned them, the love that has shared them, and the causes that have inspired them. Amen.
Hymns
"Come, We That Love The Lord"
"When Morning Gilds The Skies"
"The Church's One Foundation"
