Fourth Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: When We Suffer Unjustly
Call To Worship
In a world where good people often suffer, and evil ones seem to prosper, we come before Almighty God searching for understanding and seeking for power to live Christ-like lives. Come! Let us worship together.
Invocation
We ask for your help, Lord, as we come here to worship. Help us as we listen, that we may not close our ears to truth that makes us uncomfortable. Help us as we sing, that we may mean with our minds what we say with our lips. Help us as we pray, that our spirits may truly communicate with your Spirit. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Confession
O Lord, how often we have cried out to you in anger and distress when we have suffered unjustly while doing what is right. We have failed to see that Christ set us an example when he unjustly suffered the agony of the cross that the world might be drawn closer to you. Forgive our shortsightedness, we pray, and grant us the courage and the strength to follow our Redeemer's example by putting our trust in you who judges justly. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, of whose bounty we have all received, accept our offerings and so follow them with your blessing that they may promote peace and good will, and advance the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Hymns
"All Praise To Our Redeeming Lord"
"Out Of The Depths I Cry To You"
"And Are We Yet Alive"
