FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

LECTIONARY WORSHIP AIDS
Series III
* CALL TO WORSHIP
Approach God with confidence. Do what God approves and ask what
you will.
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Creator, Repairer, Sustainer of consciences, we need your
continued attention, because at times our consciences are dull or
numb and need to be set true again, and sensitive to what should
bother us. Confrontation of painful truth may be what we need to
jolt us into action that is appropriate for the children of God.
Forgive our avoidance of what we should do and our neglect of
what we started but have not finished, for the sake of Jesus, who
finished what you sent him to do. Amen.
* DECLARATION OF GOD'S FORGIVENESS
Hear the Good News! Jesus, our Good Shepherd, laid down his life
for us, his sheep, that we might live. Friends, believe the Good
News! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
* EXHORTATION
Give allegiance to God's son, Jesus Christ, and love one another
as he commanded.
* PRAYER OF THE DAY
Good Shepherd, hasten the day when it will be clear that there is
one flock and one shepherd, when above all the discordant voices
of our times, your voice will be heard loud and clear. Amen.
* PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Bountiful Host, what a profusion of good things you have created
for us to enjoy. Your provisions for the sustenance of the body
and the spirit are beyond measure, our cup overflows. Your
promises are sure and we expect your goodness and mercy to
nurture us all our days and bring us to the time and place where
we know your presence even more intimately than today. Today and
every day, may we remember to express our thanksgiving. Amen.
* PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Actions are what you look for, Bishop of the church, so let these
words and these offerings signify what we will do to serve you.
Amen.
* PSALM 23
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil; for you are with me;
your rod and your staff -- they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.
Approach God with confidence. Do what God approves and ask what
