Leader: God's promises are sure.

People: Praise be to God.
Collect
O God, we know that you will not take your steadfast love from us, and we give you thanks that your Son has come into the world to share our joys and sorrows. Through his life, death, and resurrection we know that he will reign eternally in the hearts of his followers, and of his kingdom there will be no end. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, like David of old, we keep trying to build bigger and better churches where we can confine you as we go about the business of living as though you did not exist. Forgive us, Lord, and enlighten our understanding that we might open our hearts to you. Through your Holy Spirit enable us to be builders of your kingdom, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

People: We look forward with great anticipation to Christ's coming.
Collect
Gracious God, with gratitude we are prepared to celebrate your coming among us through your Son, Jesus Christ. As we focus our attention on the Babe in the manger, may we not forget the carpenter's son, the teacher on the hillside, the betrayal and crucifixion, and the resurrection, for it is through all of these we have truly come to believe in him as God with us! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have been so preoccupied with traditional preparations for Christmas that we have almost forgotten the true meaning of this holiday. We come seeking your forgiveness and your help in reclaiming this time as a time of renewal. May our faith in you be strengthened, and may our lives be renewed as we fully realize your presence. Amen.
Hymns
"Angels We Have Heard On High"
"He Is Born"
Fourth Sunday Of Advent
Gospel Lesson: Luke 1:26-38
Theme: The Annunciation
Call To Worship
As we come closer to Christmas, like many we ask ourselves, "How can this be?" As we worship may we hear the words of God's messenger reminding us, "Nothing will be impossible with God."
Come, let us worship the Lord, our God!
Collect
Lord, like Mary, we are often perplexed by your plans for us. As we come together at the close of this Advent season we pray that like Mary we may come to the realization that we can put our trust in you. Like Mary, may we be prepared to hear your call and respond, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord, let it be with me according to your word." Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, forgive us when we doubt your power. We confess that often we are tempted to handle life's problems our own way. Forgive our weakness, and may the power of your Holy Spirit enable us to respond to your call as we put our faith and trust in you. Amen.
Hymns
"To A Maid Engaged To Joseph"
"What Child Is This?"
