Call To Worship
We look on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. God sees beneath the facade to the beauty of the human soul. Come and worship here where we might shed gloss and pretense. Let us discover ourselves and others anew.
Collect
We enter peaceably into the depths of the soul, O gracious God, knowing that you move there in your mysterious way to renew our courage. You invite us to claim both the negative and positive sides of our heritage. You replace dread with smile and self-doubt with confidence. You show us who we are. In the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We wonder why our spiritual life flounders in the shallows. We make decisions based on the outward appearance of those who would be our associates, our friends, or companions. Then we wonder why these relationships fail to flourish. Help us to be brave, God, and risk showing our true selves to others as well as to ourselves. Amen.

Call To Worship
How do you look at others? When we see others from a human point of view, we tend to become critics of failings and shortcomings. When we view others from Christ's perspective, we see aspects of a person worthy of boasting and deserving of hope. "So," says the apostle Paul, "if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"
Collect
The miracle of confidence comes from you, O God. The love of Christ urges us forward. The love of Christ opens for us a new creation. All praise to you, our triune God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Dear God, we confess our yearning to be part of a new creation. We tire of our old ways but want to be more than our old selves re-packaged in fancy wrapping paper. May we take on the new life that reflects being recipients of the love of Christ and that models through and through the way of Christ's love. Amen.
41B Hymns
"Blessed Assurance" Tune: ASSURANCE
"We Are Not Our Own" Tune: YARNTON
"Incarnate God, Immortal Love" or "Strong Son Of God, Immortal Love" Tune: ROCKINGHAM
Proper 6
Sunday between June 12 and June 18 inclusive
Gospel: Mark 4:26-34
Theme: Small Packages
Call To Worship
Leader: We think we must do great things to change the world around us. Know that great changes come about because of our smallest efforts.
People: An appropriate word,
Leader: A few minutes of shared time,
People: A promise honored,
Leader: A moment of confident enthusiasm
People: Can spawn a fresh start.
Collect
Creator God, we recommit ourselves to the hope that your realm will win out in the struggle for justice and peace and engender fullness of life and vitality in our world community. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We underestimate the possibilities of each talent and ability you have given us. We undervalue how flexible and adaptable we are in shaping ideas that generate positive change around us. Teach us, O God, to cherish, use, and expand even the smallest seed of promise that you have given us. Through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
41B Hymns
"O How Glorious, Full Of Wonder" Tune: IN BABILONE
"We Plant A Grain Of Mustard Seed" Tune: NEW BEGINNINGS
"Take My [Gifts][Life]" Tune: MESSIAH, TALAVERA TERRACE, or VIENNA
