Call To Worship
"Would that I had died instead of you" -- these words of grief from one left behind are particularly poignant cried by a parent. Today, let us embrace by prayer those we know who have lost an infant through miscarriage, stillbirth, or sudden infant death. Let us remember those who have lost a child, a youth, or an adult child. Receive the comfort of this congregation and the solace of God who walks with you throughout this long journey.
Collect
We lift up to you, O Comforter, those who grieve the loss of a child. We trust in your strength to guide and sustain. Through the care and love of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Stay near to those who grieve, O God. Quiet involuntary feelings of guilt. Grant patience with the floods of reliving that rush in. Help a parent to tolerate the distress of regret with a minimum of energy wasted on bitterness. Strengthen the resolve to continue meaningful life. Bring the calm of peace. Amen.

Prayer Of Confession
You tell us to put away from us all bitterness, God, because bitterness causes death of our spirit. We would prefer to keep an ounce of bitterness to call up when we are in a foul mood, just to remind us that we are human.
