Left Out?

Call To Worship
We are acceptable whether within or without a life partnership. The push to be married can harry. Others suggest we are incomplete without a mate. Those healing after the break of a relationship hear that being single may not be okay. Come now -- married, single, or wondering. Hear God's call to become at home with ourselves. Let us worship God.
Collect
Gracious, understanding God, strengthen our conviction that being who we are supposed to be right now in our lives is acceptable. In the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We do not want to be left out, God. We need patience to do the things we need in order to nurture a strong sense of self-wholeness. Help us accept who we are and to celebrate that being as a valid part of your creation. Amen.
10C Hymns
"I Sing the Mighty Power of God" Tune: ELLACOMBE
"We Yearn, O [Christ][Lord] For Wholeness" Tune: PASSION CHORALE
"This Is A Day Of New Beginnings" Tune: BEGINNINGS
Second Sunday After Epiphany
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
Theme: Even To You
Call To Worship
We easily see the spiritual gifts the creator has given to folk around us. We are awed by the variety of their gifts. Let us also see the other miracle, the growing awareness that you and I are gifted ones, too. Come, let us praise our God of lavish, abundant creation.
Collect
Our song to you, O God, is a song of joy. Your strength shows itself in the breadth and depth of wisdom within your creation. You have made each person different, each uniquely gifted. We rejoice in discovering your particular gifts to us. Through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Forgive us, ever-creating God, when we see the differences of others as liabilities and threats. Forgive us when we diminish ourselves or compare ourselves unfavorably with others. Expand our sense of gratitude for all that you have given. Encourage us to use in positive ways what you give us. Amen.
10C Hymns
"Forward Through The Ages" Tune: ST. GERTRUDE
"To God Compose A Song Of Joy" Tune: RICHMOND
"Many Are The Lightbeams" Tune: LIGHTBEAMS
Second Sunday After Epiphany
Gospel: John 2:1-11
Theme: Really? Really.
Call To Worship
How do you respond to miracles? With a skeptical "Really?" or with an awe-filled "Really." Do you think of magicians, artists of sham, and illusion? Do you consider also signs of hope, divine mystery, and possibility?
Collect
To you, O God, who have many ways of telling us about you and your relationship to us, we confess to being not always certain of what is what. Yet we know that compassion and wanting good for us underpin all of your actions in our lives. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Dear God, we want confirmation of everything. We do not want to be fooled. We do not want to be fools. Help us to see clearly where clarity is significant and to accept on faith where trust is important. When it is wise, help us to lay aside the "Why" and the "How." In the name of Jesus. Amen.
10C Hymns
"Let Us With A [Gladsome][Joyful] Mind" Tune: INNOCENTS
"Won't You Let Me Be Your Servant?" Tune: SERVANT SONG
"Unite And Join Your Cheerful Songs" Tune: AMAZING GRACE or NEW BRITAIN
