SHUSHANA: (ENTERS ALONG WITH DOV) It's late.
DOV: (TAKING OFF OUTER GARMENT) I know.
SHUSHANA: Did you get the money for the firewood?
DOV: No, I didn't.
SHUSHANA: Well, that's all right. You can sell it tomorrow. You can do anything.
DOV: Well, maybe not this time. I lost the wood.
SHUSHANA: What? Lost the wood? What are you saying?
DOV: I lost it all.
SHUSHANA: But, how? How can you lose a bundle of firewood that's at least as big as you are?
DOV: Well, I set it down when I heard Jesus was going to be in town.
SHUSHANA: Jesus. Oh, well, that explains it. You can get more wood to sell. You can do anything.
DOV: I sure can.
SHUSHANA: Did you eat all your lunch?
DOV: No. I lost my lunch.
SHUSHANA: You were sick?
DOV: No, no. I lost it.
SHUSHANA: Someone stole your lunch.
DOV: Nope.
SHUSHANA: I'll fix you something. You must be hungry.
DOV: I'm not hungry.
SHUSHANA: You must be. You lost your lunch. How did you lose your lunch?
DOV: I was so interested in what Jesus was saying that I just sat my lunch down somewhere and left it.
SHUSHANA: Then you must be hungry.
DOV: I'm not hungry. I ate.
SHUSHANA: You ate? You ate what?
DOV: You won't believe this. I ate my lunch.
SHUSHANA: What a riddle you are. You lost your lunch and yet you ate your lunch. You better tell me everything.
DOV: All right. I was on my way to town with the firewood and Elhana and Joash went running by me. They had heard that Jesus was in Chorazin and they were going to go listen to him.
SHUSHANA: I wish I would have been there. Were there a lot of people?
DOV: Were there a lot of people? There sure were. All of them running up the road to Chorazin. I left my wood beside the road and followed them.
SHUSHANA: That's something? Is that where you lost your lunch?
DOV: No. I still had my lunch with me. It was so exciting. Jesus and his disciples were coming by boat but we got there before he did.
SHUSHANA: What did Jesus do?
DOV: Well, he taught as usual, and he healed some people who were sick and then he fed us.
SHUSHANA: All of you?
DOV: All of us. We ate my lunch.
SHUSHANA: Who ate your lunch?
DOV: We all did. All the people who were there.
SHUSHANA: Everyone?
DOV: Everyone. It was a miracle. There must have been about five thousand men there, I suppose.
SHUSHANA: Five thousand. And you fed them with your little lunch? You can do anything. How did you feed all those people?
DOV: I didn't. Jesus did.
SHUSHANA: Well, tell me.
DOV: I guess someone found my lunch and gave it to Jesus. I don't know. All I know is that all those people were there and they were hungry. Me too. I was hungry. And then Jesus' disciples were passing out fish and bread, just like my little lunch. I had more than enough to eat. My own lunch! Everyone ate my lunch!
SHUSHANA: Jesus made enough to eat for five thousand from your little lunch. What a blessing.
DOV: It was really something. Thanks for caring enough for me to pack my lunch. Just think, if you hadn't packed my lunch all those people would have gone hungry today. You were a part of a miracle.
SHUSHANA: And you. Just think, you were part of a miracle too.
DOV: Me? What did I do?
SHUSHANA: You lost your lunch! You really can do anything.
Just by being ourselves and open to God's will we can be a part of God's miracles.
