Call To Worship
In Philippi, Paul spoke to several women gathered at a place of prayer by the river. Among these women was Lydia, an urban businesswoman from another city. Something Paul said captured her attention. She listened to him. Lydia became the first person converted to the Christian way in Europe. Today, let something also catch our attention so we also might listen and hear those who speak to us in the name of Christ.
Collect
Open our hearts, O God, to be eager listeners for what you have to say to us. Help us to hear what is important, truth, and life for us. In the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
When we hear words of truth, help us to trust our ears. Teach us to hear with our hearts. Rather than dismiss words of truth as having nothing to do with us, let us listen for their meaning. Rather than run away from words of life, let us embrace them and let them change our ways. Amen.
33C Hymns
"Shall We Gather By The River" Tune: HANSON PLACE
"Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life" Tune: THE CALL
"Holy Spirit, Truth Divine" Tune: CANTERBURY
Sixth Sunday Of Easter
Second Lesson: Revelation 21:10, 22--22:5
Theme: For The Healing Of Nations
Call To Worship
We have eaten of the Genesis tree of knowledge of good and evil. In the book of Revelation is another tree, the tree of life. A variety of fruit from this uncommon tree brings monthly sustenance to the nations. Its leaves promote the healing of the nations. Come, let us worship God who continually provides healing ways of life.
Collect
Let us, O God, be life-giving as is the tree of life whose verdant leaves draw in and convert solar energy into the constant, healing nourishment that promotes vitality for all peoples. Through the Holy Spirit of God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Teach us, O God of all nations, to lift up what is honorable in a body of people rather than to view others from a competitive stance. Because we are one in your eyes, teach us to promote healing among all nations rather than to cut one down to magnify our own country. Amen.
33C Hymns
"God The Omnipotent" Tune: RUSSIAN HYMN
"We Yearn, O [Christ][Lord], For Wholeness" Tune: PASSION CHORALE
"Now The Green Blade Rises" Tune: NOEL NOUVELET
Sixth Sunday Of Easter
Gospel: John 14:23-29
Theme: I Give You Peace
Call To Worship
Leader: Do not let your hearts be troubled.
People: Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."
Leader: Do not let your hearts be afraid.
All: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."
Collect
As Jesus left peace with us, O God, so let us leave an echoing peace wherever our foot falls. We would be your peacemakers, your advocates of kindness, of a gentle spirit, and of reconciliation. Through the Spirit of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We become troubled by the ways of the world, O God. We resort to fear rather than trust. Help us remember that you reign over all the world. You, O God, reign over all human life. Teach us to let your peace be the inspiration of our peace. Amen.

"O God Of Love, O God Of Peace" Tune: HESPERUS (QUEBEC)
