A Man With A Hard Name To Remember

Matthew To Revelation
Object: symbol of Jude
Good morning, boys and girls. How many times have you heard someone's name and still you forget it? You remember what he does and where he lives, but you can't remember his name. Some people you never know by name, but you just call them the mail carrier, police officer, teacher, and other names like that. These are important people, but we forget to learn their names.
Jesus had a disciple like this, and while he was a hard worker and very important to Jesus, other people could never remember his name. Jesus called him Jude or Thaddaeus. The Bible called him by both names. Maybe that is the reason people forget his name, since they never could remember what to call him. But just because they forgot to mention his name does not mean that he was not important.
The thing that it does mean is that Jude did his job so well that people remembered what he did rather than who he was. There are a lot of people like this and maybe you are one of them. I know some pretty important boys and girls who people call Sis, or Sonny, or Junior, other names like that because they forget what their real name is, but I want you to know that these boys and girls are really important.
Because people forgot his name, there are no stories in the Bible about Jude like there are about Peter and Paul or James and John. Jude is one of those people like you and me. I doubt if anyone will write a book about us so that people will remember us in 2,000 years, but I want you to know that you are important to a lot of people, and especially important to God. Jude was like you and me. No one will write about us, but the world knows that it takes a lot of people like us to make the big people big. We may not win an election, but it is our vote that elects people to office. Without any big fuss, Jude did the job that Jesus asked him to do. The job got done, and Jesus loved Jude for the way that he did it.
I know people today who find it hard to tell other people about Jesus even though they love him very much. They tell me that they are not a pastor and that people would not listen to them since they have not gone to special schools for ministers. But Jude is the kind of a person that most of us are. Jude told anyone and everyone about Jesus and no one thought that he was so big. Jude did just what Jesus asked him to do and it worked out fine.
Your name may be hard to remember, but it is a good name. Don't wait until people know you by your name to tell them about Jesus. Do it like Jude did, and tell the people first about God, and let them worry about who told them later.
Jude had a hard name to remember, but he did the big job for Jesus.
