LECTIONARY WORSHIP AIDS
Series III
* THE EXTINGUISHING OF EACH OF SEVEN CANDLES
* ORGAN PRELUDE
* CALL TO WORSHIP and OPENING PRAYERS
On this day our Lord went again to Jerusalem. In the evening in
the Upper Room, He washed the feet of the disciples and
instituted the Sacrament of His Body and Blood. He spoke words
of comfort and peace, gave the promise of the coming of the Holy
Spirit, and made the great intercession.
In the Garden of Gethsemane He endured His agony. Betrayed by
Judas and arrested by His enemies, He was taken to prison and to
judgment.
Compassionate and saving God, assist us by the Spirit that we
may approach with reverence our meditation on the actions of
Jesus to give us forgiveness, life and immortality. As we come
to your table with reverence, Lord Jesus, enable us to confirm
our discipleship and to renew our vows of loyalty to you.
Be present to us in the breaking of the bread and the
receiving of the cup. Join us with all your people who remember
you around the table. Be with those who are finding life hard
and faith difficult that they may rediscover you and be of good
courage. Hear us as we pray in the words our Savior Christ has
taught us: Our Father . . .
THE FINAL CONFLICT BEGINS Mark 14:1-11
* Wicked Plans -- Mark 14:11
HYMN: O Come And Mourn With Me A While
THE LAST SUPPER Mark 14:12-25
HYMN: 'Twas On That Night When Doomed To Know
** HOLY COMMUNION (Actions at the table may be synchronized
with the words of the hymn above.)
