Mother's Tender Loving Care
Children's sermon
GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR
Object Lessons and other Worship Stories for Children
On Mother's Day children can be reminded of how their mothers took care of them when they were little babies.
Objects: Christmas card pictures of Jesus' mother.
Today is Mother's Day. Whose mother do you think is in these pictures? Right. Jesus' mother. These are pictures from Christmas cards that show how some artists think Jesus' mother looked. We don't know exactly how she looked because when Jesus' mother was alive there weren't any cameras to take a picture of her.
When Jesus was born, his mother wrapped him in some cloths and laid him in a bed of straw, so he could sleep.
When you were a little baby, what did your mother do to take care of you? (Let them discuss this.) She wrapped me in a blanket, put me in bed, fed me, burped me, and changed my diapers. What could you do for yourself when you were a little baby? Right. Nothing.
I think your mother would like to have you tell her "thank you" today because she took care of you when you were a baby and couldn't take care of yourself.
