Scientists were given seeds discovered when tombs of ancient kings of Egypt were opened. These seeds had to be at least 3,000 years old. Would the seeds grow? A test was performed to discover the answer to that question.
Some of the seeds were carefully placed at the right temperature and where they would get proper light. They were watered every day. The best soil was used in which they could grow.
In about three weeks something startling began to happen. Not only did the seeds swell up, but some actually began to grow into plants! Eventually, the plants were mature and grew seeds of their own. These turned out to be vegetable seeds much like a pea or lentil seed, and they were edible. The experiment was a great success.
Never give up if the seed you have has a purpose to live. Age of the seed seems to have been unimportant. Its purpose can be most important.
