O God, In Deep Distress I Pray
Worship
Lectionary Hymns for Cycle B
New Hymns for the Church Year Calendar with Old Familiar Tunes
Object:
1. O God, in deep distress I pray.
I seek the solace of your way,
Longing, in faith, to know sweet rest,
Assured you grant me what is best.
2. You hear and answer when I call;
Your gift of peace, spread like a pall.
You set apart, from all that’s wrong,
The faithful who, to you, belong.
3. Lord, you put gladness in my heart.
May I ne’er from your truth depart;
But ever offer you my love,
And ever trust you, God of love.
4. The needs of many rise in prayer,
Hoping some goodness they may share,
And see the light of God’s fair face,
Trusting his mercy; saved by grace.
5. Blessed with the peace, O Lord, you give,
Now in your service, let me live.
In day and night time may I be
Held safe, and from all care be free.
