Gospel: Luke 23:33-43
Theme: Paradox
Call To Worship
Leader: He was not a criminal, still they killed him.
People: They wronged him, yet he asked God to forgive them.
Leader: He saved others, still he chose not to save himself.
People: They killed him, yet he reigns today.
Collect
Jesus, you lived two thousand years ago, and still you hold power over our lives. You lived two thousand years ago, and yet your way of power, justice, and love is the way to bring true fullness of life to all people. We lift you to the place of greatest honor. We praise your holy name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Will we ever understand you, Jesus? You have set before us the ways of death and life, yet you give us freedom to choose between them. You let us make wrong decisions, yet you forgive us when we recognize we have failed. Wherever your reign is evident, all becomes different, O Christ. Wherever you are, O Christ, everything is changed. Amen.
64C Hymns
"Crown [Him] With [Many][Your Richest] Crowns" Tune: DIADEMATA
"Eternal Christ, You Rule" Tune: THROCKMORTON
"Jesus Shall Reign" Tune: DUKE STREET
